Robyn Westgate

Project Manager, Curtin Bystander Project

Curtin University

Robyn brings years of personal experience with domestic violence, sexual assault, and bullying to her work as a program manager, facilitator and an academic. Driven by a desire to understand what had happened to her—and why it was allowed to occur—Robyn embarked on a journey of study and research. Her academic focus includes domestic and gendered violence, such as non-fatal strangulation, coercive control, and domestic violence homicide. Additionally, Robyn explores the connections between female offending and factors like domestic violence, homelessness, substance addiction, and mental health challenges.

Through her experiences, Robyn has gained invaluable insight into the necessity of raising awareness about topics society often avoids and engaging in courageous conversations with friends, family, colleagues, and peers. As a passionate educator and public speaker, Robyn provides training, mentorship, and guidance to businesses, organizations, and community groups, encouraging open and meaningful discussions on these critical issues.
